Britax Baby-Safe SHR II Gets Mother & Baby Best Buy Award

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Reviewed in the March Edition of Mother & Baby magazine, and up against some very tough competition from the usual Group 0+ contenders including the Maxi Cosi Pebble, Jane Matrix Light, Recaro Young Profi Plus and the Concord Intense, it was the Britax that stood out amongst the crowd and receieved the highest rating within the category.

Some of the reviews touched on the fabric as being ‘lovely and soft’ as well as being ‘well-padded’ whilst the sheer fuctionality of the SHR (standing for single handed release) being present as well as this not impacting on the handle being comfy to hold whilst carrying your precious cargo, it does go to show that Britax have given great consideration not just to functionality, but also to practicality too.

The weight of the seat is 3.9kg, which makes it not as light as the Recaro Young Profi Plus (at 3.5kg) but lighter than the Maxi Cosi Pebble and much lighter than the Jane Matrix Light (which weighs 6.5kg).

The verdict of the Mother & Baby Magazine review is as follows:

“Sturdy with a reassuringly safe feel. It’s versatile – fitting any of the Britax pushchair range and is seat belt, ISOFix or standard base compatible. An excellent all-rounder offering value for money.”

Given a rating of 4.5 (out of 5) it came out as the winner against the rest of the infant carriers, having accumulated scores of 4.5 for Value, 4 for Practicality and 4.5 for Quality, it is understandable why the Britax Baby-Safe Plus SHR II was therefore awarded the status of Best Buy from Mother & Baby magazine.

The overall standings are shown below with their rating, out of 5 displayed next to the product names:

Mothercare Travel Tot – 3

Concord Intense – 3

Jane Matrix Light – 3.5

Maxi-Cosi Pebble – 4

Recaro Young Profi Plus – 4

Britax Baby-Safe Plus SHR II – 4.5

It was the Britax Baby-Safe Plus SHR II that was awarded the Mother & Baby Magazine Best Buy award. For further information on the Britax Baby-Safe range of car seats, please visting our website at the following address: MumStore.co.uk

Britax B Dual – A Great Value Double Pushchair

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Now you can get a double pushchair for under £300 – the Britax B-Dual 4 wheeler double pushchair to be more precise!

Designed to be used as a travel system (when you connect the Britax Baby Sleeper or the Britax SHR range of car seats to the chassis), this Britax B Dual pushchair can also be used as a single pushchair. In order to use the pushchair as a double pushchair – all that you need to do it to add the second seat part onto the rear of the chassis and ‘lock in’ via the securing catch lock. The clever bit about the B Dual is that you can fold the pushchair with the second seat still attached without causing any hinderance to the fold mechanism.

Some of the features of the Britax B Dual are:

  • Additional removeable second seat
  • Easy compact fold
  • Quick release wheels
  • 5-point safety harness
  • Mulit-position seat recline
  • onboard suspension
  • adjustable handle height
  • detachable showerproof hood (but FREE PVC with the MumStore offer)
  • Lockable or swivel quick release front wheels

Just a few points to note on just what a cracking value offer this Britax B Dual double pushchair is! If you want to have a look any further, have a look at the B Dual in Neon Black or Venetian Red – both priced at £299 and include the pushchair, second seat and a pvc raincover too!

A Britax Travel System for £375!?

Friday, September 17th, 2010

When a Britax B-Smart pushchair has a price tag of £299.99, a Britax Carrycot is listed as £119.99, throw in a cosytoes footmuff for £29.99 and then drop a Britax Baby Safe Plus SHR car seat in to the mix at £119.99 then totalled up something must be wrong when you have got a figure of only £375 for a complete B-Smart Travel System.

A full travel system by description would include a chassis which can allow a car seat to be connected on to it. A carrycot can also be used with the chassis as well – usually for newborn babies, then when the car seat or the carrycot is not required the chassis can be turned into a pushchair by using the seat unit. So when you think of the versatility offered with this B-Smart 3 Travel System it is difficult to grasp how we can offer this package for only £375.

The Britax B-Smart pBritax Travel System - B-Smart 3ushchair itself has an aluminum frame, meaning that it is pretty lightweight and the fold mechanism is works well to enable the pushchair to pack together on itself pretty compactly.

The sheer ease at which you can take out the seat unit, turn it around and connect it back in to the pushchair so that it is facing the opposite way is a great feature, and clearly makes this pushchair one of the easiest forward and rearward facing pushchairs on the market. The ‘Click & Go’ system also features heavily when it comes to removing the seat unit and connecting up the carrycot, or when removing the carrycot/seat unit and using the car seat. It really makes things simple, and is a great feature.

To fully understand, what this offer is all about, it is really worth taking a little look for yourself by clicking here;  but in short the package contains the following:

  • Britax B-Smart 3 Pushchair
  • Britax Cosytoes (Footmuff) – for the pushchair
  • Britax Carrycot
  • Britax Baby Safe Plus SHR Car Seat

…and if you fancy an ISOFix base in the package too, there is also this package here to take a look at as well!

Britax Highback Booster Campaign

Monday, August 16th, 2010

The good folks at Britax have been running a Safety Campaign  to hit home the message of just how important Side Impact protection is to a car seat, and as they continue to improve their car seat range (across the different stages of car seats) they have also now decided to discontiue the Britax Horizon Booster range. This bold decision has come about because they feel that no booster cushion provides adequate safety for side impact and protection of the head.

Britax Highback Booster Campaign

In the UK the safety standards for testing car seats do not actually test side impact collisions, but Britax do! When you look at a booster seat there is no side protection at all, and even the highback boosters are not really that great – so Britax have now come to the forefront to say that their Highback Booster range DO give the Side Impact Protection to your child. With 1 in 4 accidents being a side impact collision, Britax have really focused on safety by giving their range large side wings with a soft and deeply padded head support to absorb the crash energy in a side impact collision and overall aiming to reduce the impact on your child and their head.

So why are we getting involved? Well, we are currently offerening the Britax Adventure car seats for only £30 while this campaign is running, so if you are after a Britax Adventure Car Seat in Black or a Britax Adventure Car Seat in Red.

Below is a little overview of the Britax Highback Booster range:

  • Britax ADVENTURE: a lightweight highback booster with side impact protection, designed to be used mainly by older children.
  • Britax KID: A comfortable seat which has an adjustable headrest to allow comfort for smaller and also taller children.
  • Britax KID Plus: Featuring adjustable sides to make the seat wider or narrower the Kid Plus gives greater comfort for older childen by fitting more comfortably.
  • and, Britax KIDFIX: Test winner in its category, it is a safe an comfortable seat designed for older children that maintains a securely anchored contact with the vehicle using ISOFix – although it is possible to simply install the seat via a standard 3-point seat belt.

Below is a video from Britax indicating the importance of side impact protection when it comes to a car seat…
